Support a Documentary, and Keep Family in the Jazz

Charles Mingus, 1959 by Don Hunstein

Mingus on Mingus seeks to document the life and influence of bassist, composer, bandleader and all-around seminal force in jazz, Charles Mingus.  The particular Mingus exploring the legacy of THE Mingus is none other than his own grandson, Kevin Ellington Mingus.  The jazz family affair starts genealogically but is sure to sweep across the history and future of this art form.

Director Kevin Mingus is teaming up with producer Valeria Rios, and they’ve started a campaign to reach the necessary $45,000 mark by December 18.  So please start your holidays early and contribute to the legacy of this seminal American artist.  Without this support, the project will not go through!

Please also check out their website for more information about the documentary, and to contribute, please go to their Kickstarter page here.  Thank you, and while you’re at it, try not to wake the neighbors with this:
